  • GREECE OPERATION OF 1937 AND THE FILLING GREEKS OF KYIV

The Greeks of Ukraine have experienced their time and are experiencing difficult times. It is very difficult to understand the events through which most of the Greek families passed. The materials in front of you are the protocol and the act of the shooting of 25 Greeks as citizens of the then Soviet Union and citizens of the Greek state. The last on this list is even more, their 19 people. And this further underscores the crime of power, which destroyed both its citizens and foreign ones. What was their fault when, at the end of 1937, all of them were arrested on the list, then tortured, demanding confess that they were all spies, and then all 26 people were sentenced to execution? The order, which was sent from Moscow (Moscow, Dzerzhinsky Square, 2), reads as follows: “Immediately enforce the sentence against all 26 prisoners sentenced to be executed. Deeds on them and acts of execution of sentences should be sent to Moscow!” Moscow did not leave Ukraine and Ukrainians alone for a moment, regardless of nationality. And who looks today in the direction of Moscow – know that hundreds of years ago Ukraine was in trouble for all its inhabitants, regardless of nationality, from Moscow and Muscovy. And now, on February 25, 1938, the performers shot all 26 Greeks at night in the basements of the NKVD (today’s October Palace), the bodies were bombed in the car on February 25, 1938, and they were taken out and bathed under cover of the night to the prepared holes of graves at the so-called “special stake” in the forest near Kiev (today it’s a national reserve “Bykovnyansk graves.” In this terrible forest, where practically 20 years old victims of repression were buried, Ukrainians, Germans and Poles, Greeks, Russians, and Jews lie alongside … Practically representatives of all nationalities of Ukraine lie without graves without memory the names of all the dead Poles, the Polish Poles, who were killed and repressed by the Polish state and public organizations, were built, a memorial was erected, the names of all the dead Poles were brought to the board, and every year their graves are visited by representatives of the Polish government, political and public figures, simple Poles, relatives of the dead, and the relatives of the dead can bring their children and grandchildren here and show the place where their grandparents and great-grandfathers are buried. Unfortunately, this is not the case with the Greeks. Our NGO “Union of the Greeks of Ukraine” and our friends The Association of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Greece “Ukrainian-Greek Thought” are starting to work to find in Greece relatives and relatives of the Greeks who were repressed in 1938. Citizens of the Hellenic Republic: Respond to everyone who knew them, who can help in the search, help them find out the truth. We are ready to unite the efforts of all stakeholders, to help their relatives see the place of their last asylum and their long-suffering and innocent murdered members of their families. Together we will be able to commemorate the place of burial, write down their names and extort future generations from repeating in the history of mankind the terrible tragedy of communism and fascism. Below are the names of the dead, sacked by the Greeks in the distant 1938. It’s been 80 years old. But by myself, I know how the grandson of the repressed Greek, that all relatives always remembered for him, this pain carry all his life and all the years of wounds do not heal. Let’s help to see the graves of relatives and relatives in the 80’s.
